I was looking on Alldata Pro and could not find the location. Jack the car up with floor jack and support with jack stands. (safety first!) locate fuel tank, work your way to the front following the fuel lines. You should see the filter close to the tank. it either comes off with wrenches or plastic line clips that you push in to the connections. You can get a 5-7 piece set from you local parts store for around $20.00. (Lyle tools) If this is a fuel injection engine, you should remove the fuel pump fuse first, start the car and let it kill from fuel starvation. Then try cranking it a couple times to make sure fuel is gone from the line. Being it is an 85, if it does have the hex fittings, spray with a penetrant first and let soak for 15 minutes. The best wrenches to use are line wrenhes. Use saftey glasses being there will be fuel in the filter, if it is carbed, you will have fuel spillage, keep a rag handy. If you want to see how dirty it is in the filter, blow into the outlet end into a container. Just replace with new one same way it was removed. No need to use plastic line clip tool to replace, just push lines in until seated. If wrench style, always back up with anoter wrench to replace or remove. Lines will break. Go easy. Good luck.

It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
