Question: SCREECHING SOUND WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE ON & WHEN I START IT UP
Does the alternator need to be changed? When I start up the car, there is a screeching noise. This same noise starts when I have the lights on at night when sitting at an intersection

Probably the alternator belt tension is inadequate. The extra load from recharging the battery or powering the lights causes the belt to slip.
